YPS Banking On Rachel To Bring Home Barclays Award!
We are thrilled to announce that Rachel Johnson, our Finance and Operations Director, has been shortlisted for the Barclays Bank Annual Women in Business Awards for the Yorkshire region. After being secretly nominated by her colleagues, she certainly was surprised and highly delighted to receive her invitation to the event!
The Barclays Women in Business Awards, now in their fourth year, champion entrepreneurial and strong women in a range of industries and roles across a small selection of categories. Rachel was a perfect candidate for the SME Business category as it called for a businesswoman who has shown exceptional abilities in mentoring other women and women who have helped their company achieve significant results in the past year.
As anybody at YPS will tell you, Rachel has worked tirelessly for the company since joining in 1998, but in the past 12 months has taken on a challenging new role as Operations Director whilst maintaining her existing role. The move has been hugely successful for our business as we have experienced huge growth in recent years, helping us stay focussed and committed to the excellent customer service we are known for.
Furthermore, Rachel has experienced first-hand how tough it is to be a woman in the overwhelmingly male-dominated business world. Fighting against the mould, Rachel has become a true success story; acquiring and managing huge sales accounts, overseeing difficult machinery installations and directing and shaping our company, to become widely respected. Her work is truly an inspiration to all women working in industry and proves that women have a place in packaging!
The awards ceremony is being held at Bowcliffe Hall in Wetherby on Thursday 21st June 2018. The day will a feature a talk from guest speaker Hannah Cockroft MBE, T34 Gold medal winning Paralympian and ten times World Champion, as well as raffles in aid of the Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund and networking opportunities over dinner and drinks.
Stay tuned in to our news page to find out if Rachel bags the prize!
**Update – unfortunately Rachel didn’t win the award this time, however we think you will all agree she is a winner in our eyes! Well done Rachel & all the nominated ladies! **
