BT call for a shrink wrapper!

When the packaging systems at the Northern Distribution Centre in Northallerton needed upgrading who else would BT call than YPS?

You will probably already be familiar with the big blue-chip name BT. Their Northern Distribution Centre handles shipments of many products including their highly successful BT Home Hub Broadband Box and BT Vision Box. These are shipped in their thousands on a daily basis directly to residential addresses all over the UK with demand continuing to grow. With the success of their products quite literally on the line, BT needed a shrink wrapping supplier they could trust.

Our latest installation marks their fifth YPS shrink wrapper. The machinery we originally supplied some years ago was two fully automatic side sealing units for wrapping BT products in a high clarity polyolefin shrink film replacing some much older units.

However, the real gains came when a number of YPS inline sleeve sealers were introduced over the last few years which has allowed some products which BT had previously been bagging by hand to now be automatically shrink-wrapped.

Consequently, the gains for BT were immediate in terms of labour savings as well as providing a much more secure pack for the postal system and so following this success a number of further units were introduced to extend this process.
