Rapid service delivers faster packing

A super-fast automated packaging line is delivering significant production increases to its new owners, just two weeks after it was ordered.

The Challenge – Speeding up to meet demand

The customer is a well-established, global logistics solutions provider who manage all aspects of the supply chains of their clients.  The new packaging line is employed in the packing of medical testing kits destined for four major retailers.

Previously, the company had used a semi-automatic packing system which was too slow for the current required workload.

The Solution – Automatic l-sealer delivered super-fast

Following the initial enquiry from the customer, we provided a demonstration of the proposed new system at our dedicated automated packaging showroom.  The customer’s team could see exactly how the line would work with their products and understand the range of benefits that the new machinery would bring.

Impressed with the demonstration, the order was placed for a Pratika automatic l-sealer and shrink tunnel and the equipment was delivered, installed and commissioned by our expert engineers just two weeks later.

The new packaging line automates the entire process, so that no operator is required.  This allows the packaging system to achieve a throughput of 2,000 units per hour!

The machine speed is achieved largely by the servo-driven sealing jaw, which creates very precise movement as the products are packed.  The machine automatically adjusts for different products via pre-programmed recipes, with no need for manual adjustment of set-up therefore reducing downtime during changeovers.  The image-led recipe system requires little training, allowing the company flexibility across its workforce as operators can understand and use it very swiftly.
