Vacuum Pouches
Vacuum pouches are designed to extend shelf life and preserve product quality and freshness.
They are suitable for sous vide cooking as well as microwaving and freezing, while preventing ‘freezer burn’.
Barrier and non-barrier options are available, as are a wide range of material thicknesses. Thicker material has advantages when packing difficult or protruding shapes as well as meat products with bone-in.
Used with a vacuum sealer, a strong seal can be created to ensure the products enjoy the benefits of enhanced preservation.

Sealed for freshness
Vacuum sealing systems are designed to seal the vacuum pouches hermetically, once the air has been removed. This creates a vacuum within the pouch to preserve the product’s freshness.
Removing the air from the pack:
- Reduces the risk of oxidation and bacteria growth, promoting product life.
- Removes moisture, preventing ice crystals forming when frozen, reducing the risk of freezer burn.
The result is a vacuum pouch that can extend storage life to 5 times that of other packing methods, for example vacuum-packed goods can last up to 2 years in a freezer.
In addition, vacuum pouches can save money for producers and consumers. Extending shelf life reduces food waste. The tight nature of the vacuum-sealed packs also reduces the space needed for storage and transportation.
