Whilst the team are usually found supplying the packaging machinery and film to breweries & liquor manufacturers (Caledonian Bottlers and RESCU solutions to name a few), this time they supplied the creativity, a dose of fun and a sprinkling of teamwork. The YPS ‘lab rats’ chose the ingredients and flavours, fermented the ale, designed the logo and concocted a name for their creation, settling for ‘Shrink Rat’. Aptly named, the ale will soon take pride of place on the bar at the local ‘Rat and Ratchet’ pub in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. This establishment is one of the three micro-outposts of the Ossett Brewery and its best-selling beverage is currently the ‘White Rat’ – that is until the ‘Shrink Rat’ hits the taps!
All of this merriment was in aid of a local charity that YPS have supported for several years; the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice. The foundation works tirelessly to support children with life shortening conditions and their families in West Yorkshire. The chance to tour the brewery and produce our own packaging-themed beer was won at an auction dinner the charity held. YPS were more than happy to donate to this worthwhile fund in return for this unique team-building opportunity.
Be sure to sample a perfectly packaged pint of our refreshing ‘Shrink Rat’ pale hoppy ale soon!
