The shrink wrapping equipment consisted of two identical 800mm wide inline sleeve sealers and shrink tunnels and is needed to shrink wrap completed orders of meat products both in trays and cartons.
The process includes taking individual orders of vacuum packed portions of meat placing them either into blue returnable plastic trays or into cartons for transportation. Shrink wrapping these trays provides a high degree of tamper evidence prior to them being weighed and labelled. This new operation has meant that they have cut their returns and credits by over 85%!
Both of the sleeve wrapping lines were upgraded with heavy duty infeed and outfeed belts as well as side chains on the heat tunnel belt. The heavy weight of some of their finished packs made these features critical to the process.
Alan White, project engineer, Fairfax Meadow explained “We chose YPS because they listened to our requirements instead of trying to sell us a standard piece of equipment out of stock”.
“ For this application we looked at the whole requirement and so even helped in modifying their existing conveyor system so that it would fit within the new required factory layout.”
