Shipshape Pallets For ECOUREA’s Marine Chemicals!
We are very pleased to announce that we have installed a turntable stretch wrapping machine at ECOUREA’s warehouse in Rushden.
ECOUREA are a leading global manufacturer of aqueous marine urea, raw chemicals and reagents. They are also market-leaders in Nitrogen Oxide reduction technologies and emission control solutions, designed to help their customers in the shipping, oil, power, vehicle and incineration industries reduce their impacts on the planet. Whilst ECOUREA are recognised for their high quality eco-friendly chemical solutions around the world, even as far as Australia, at heart the company remains a family-run business built on values of trust and honesty, underpinned by their deep respect for the environment.
ECOUREA approached us in February, looking to upgrade their hand wrapping process to an automated solution. They required a machine that would wrap collations of four 55-gallon barrels of chemicals together on pallets ready for transit, in order to achieve total load security. Taking into account the significant weight of the drums and their potentially corrosive contents, ECOUREA understood that a stretch wrapping machine could bind the loads more tightly and therefore more safely than an operator could achieve by wrapping manually. The company also wanted a solution that would reduce their overall plastic film usage to meet its policy for good environmental practice in the workplace.
We recommended our Robopac semi automatic standard turntable wrapper as being the most suitable solution for the manufacturer’s requirements. With its soft-start feature, the machine ensures large and bulky products remain in place as wrapping cycles begin and its film banding facility allows additional film to be applied only at vulnerable points to achieve total load stability without waste. Its power pre-stretch film carriage allows for a 250% stretching capacity to achieve extra yield from each and every film roll without compromising strength, resulting in an overall film usage reduction and a more eco-friendly process.
The process from first enquiry to delivery in March was very smooth, taking only two months, which was significant because ECOUREA required a fast turnaround on the project. Since installation, the company have benefitted from increased efficiency in their warehouse, reduced film consumption and have minimised damage to their products in transit. They have also been impressed with the extensive warranty and service contract package we offered to maintain their operation.
Alex Roberts, Operations Manager at ECOUREA said ‘Thanks to YPS we now have complete confidence that our chemicals can withstand domestic and international carrier networks safely and securely. The new stretch wrapping machine has made our busy despatch area far more efficient and organised.’
‘I really enjoyed working on this project with ECOUREA and I’m delighted the equipment has fulfilled their aims of total product security with a reduced environmental footprint’ continued Larne Patrick, YPS Sales Manager.
