Clifton Dairies, who are now part of the Tom Barron group, required our SS120 dairy shrink wrapper to collate and shrink wrap a variety of pack sizes and collations; the most popular being two litres bottles in a 3×2 collation at a rate up to 14 packs per minute.
At this speed, a single lane infeed is all that was required and so the pack is collated by utilising two pushes to every jaw cycle. At faster speeds than this as on the next model up our SS200 for example which is capable of wrapping at around twenty packs per minute, each pack must be shrink wrapped using only one push per jaw cycle for speed.
In order to achieve this, a specially designed diverter system was installed on the shrink wrap machines infeed and is used to keep two lanes continually filled. This ensures that the machine itself does not need to collate the pack and so only one push is required for every jaw cycle significantly increasing the speed.
In addition on this latest SS120 dairy shrink wrapper, a series of innovative improvements with regards to change parts for different pack sizes and collations has drastically reduced changeover times.
Richard Leeming, Director, explained ‘YPS was the logical choice because they were the most attentive to detail, the easiest to deal with and crucially for me, manufactured the equipment in the UK, with the back and support this implies. The equipment was delivered and in full production within 48 hours’.
Being able to design and manufacture the equipment ourselves, and with a wealth of experience, we can be sure that the specification required is met and is tailored to suit each individual customers needs.
