This year’s PPMA Group Industry Awards were held on Tuesday 26th September at the National Motorbike Museum in Birmingham. Yorkshire Packaging Systems’ apprentice Jake Martin had been shortlisted for the Apprentice of the Year award and the company are delighted to announce that he fought off extremely tough competition to scoop this covetable and prestigious accolade to much cheer and applause at the event!
This new success now wraps up a hat-trick for the company after they won the PPMA Outstanding Achievement award and PPMA Customer Service award in previous years.
Winning this well-deserved award is a huge accolade for Jake who is about to complete his four year apprenticeship period at the end of 2017 to become a fully –fledged service engineer. He has shown commitment, dedication, initiative, creativity, brilliant product knowledge and competence throughout this time, making him truly a worthy winner. Yorkshire Packaging Systems pride themselves on their second-to-none after sales back up and support and so investing in young talent like Jake has future-proofed the engineering department and meant that the company can continue to provide this service long into the future.
Jake is no stranger to recognition, as he was recently highly praised by the C.E.O. of a leading UK snacks brand, who said ‘Jake worked with us throughout a complex and time pressured installation. His commitment, practical application of his knowledge and his understanding of our overall objectives was symptomatic of someone much more experienced….certainly a star in the making.’
YPS Managing Director, Glyn Johnson agrees, saying ‘We are so proud of Jake and how far he was come during his apprenticeship programme with us. His dedication, hard work, team spirit and his outstanding talent have been justly rewarded with this award. We hope that our other apprentices will follow in his footsteps!’
