Marley Plumbing & Drainage Installs Two Rochman Shrink Wrappers
Yorkshire Packaging Systems Ltd, has recently installed two semi automatic shrink wrapping lines into the Maidstone depot of Marley Plumbing & Drainage, a leading supplier of drainage products in the UK.
Marley has used shrink wrappers for many years but as part of a major productivity drive decided to invest in new shrink wrap lines earlier this year.
The wrapping equipment supplied consisted of two identical 800mm wide Rochman semi automatic sleeve sealers and shrink tunnels with a number of bespoke modifications to cope specifically with Marleys’ product range.
A specially adapted pusher assembly was designed, enabling their whole product range to be easily accepted with minimum operator involvement and absolutely no change parts, when it is normal to have a pusher plate for each pack.
To increase shrink wrapping speeds, a set of light curtain guards was used in place of the standard guarding so that the operator did not have to physically hold two buttons in place during the seal cycle. The operator is able to have the next pack ready for acceptance whilst all moving parts remain fully safety guarded.

As Tim Sandberg, project manager explained:
" Productivity has improved considerably with re-wraps virtually eliminated, shrink wrapping speeds increased and end pack presentation improved beyond recognition."
