ALL WEATHER PACKAGING FOR SOVEREIGN DOORS

Large, bulky products often use traditional cardboard packaging. Yet, with the wide capacity shrink wrapping systems now available from YPS, shrink wrapping is a cost effective – and sometimes more suitable – alternative.

Take Sovereign Doors and Windows for example.  Supplying doors and windows predominantly to the building trade, the Lancashire-based company often delivers products to building sites in all types of weather. 

Cutting Packaging Costs

By converting from cardboard packaging to shrink wrapping, Sovereign has not only cut packaging costs and improved throughput, but now has a more durable packaging solution with improved pack integrity especially in wet whether. 

To cope with the bulky nature of the products, YPS installed a 1.5 metre wide inline sleeve sealer, shrink wrapping machine with the necessary upgrades to accommodate the heavy packs.

Due to the width of product requiring shrink wrapping, the rolls of shrink wrap film used are also relatively heavy.  A hoist system, allowing the rolls of shrink wrap film to be fitted onto the machine quickly and easily, was therefore incorporated into the shrink wrapping system for added health and safety.

David Munro, Sovereign production manager explained:

‘It helped that YPS had such a clear understanding of our needs and so specification through to installation of the shrink wrapping machine, plus delivery of the necessary training, was extremely smooth. Backup and support was also very important and having two engineers living nearby was a key benefit.’
