When Ronseal, the UK’s leading supplier of wood care coatings was looking for the most appropriate way to package its multipack products, it turned to YPS for help.
Following talks with experts at YPS it was decided that a shrinkwrapper and shrinkwrap tunnel offered the most cost effective and efficient solution.
A shrinkwrap system designed specifically for heavy loads
Due to the heavier than usual packs however, the installation wasn’t quite so straightforward.
“We conducted a number of trials on the shrinkwrap machines and tunnels at our premises, to ensure that the equipment could cope comfortably and effectively with the extra weight,” explained Glyn Johnson, YPS sales director.
As a result, a fully automatic, side feed sleeve wrapper and shrinkwrap tunnel was installed at Ronseal’s Sheffield factory.
The shrinkwrapper however, incorporated a heavy duty ‘SNB modular infeed system, which could cope with the lateral stresses of pushing product from the belt at a 90o angle to the direction of travel.
In addition, the shrinkwrap tunnel belt was also upgraded to incorporate side chains. This provided a longer-term solution as it prevents the tunnel belt from stretching over time, compared to the more common, less expensive friction driven system.
Delighted with the shrinkwrapper and tunnel and level of service provided by YPS, Ronseal’s continuous improvement manager, Barrie Colledge, commented:
“We have been more than happy with Rochman equipment and the backup and service provided from YPS. The equipment came in and was up and running within hours. It has performed admirably in terms of reliability and quality’.
