Giving Zest Foods a Lift - With YPS Shrink Wrappers

Although Zest Foods Ltd, a leading supplier of sauces to the food industry, has been shrink wrapping products for several years they had suffered with reliability problems.

As Zest Food’s business continued to grow, the decision was made to make a major investment in its shrink wrapping equipment, upgrading two key shrink wrap lines to improve capacity and, equally importantly, improve efficiency.

Impressed by the comprehensive backup and service offered by Yorkshire Packaging Systems, Zest Foods chose YPS for the project. Steven Mason, Zest General Manager explained:

“We were not only impressed with Rochman equipment, but YPS’s overall philosophy of total backup and service.”

YPS supplied two 600mm wide, side feed sleeve wrappers and shrink tunnels, with a right hand and left hand feed respectively, to wrap a variety of jars in trays and other formats. Both lines were upgraded with heavy duty infeed and outfeed belts. YPS also incorporated side chains into the design to allow the shrink tunnel to cope with the potentially heavy weights of some of the packs.

“We fought off strong competition to win this order and Zest has been so pleased with the equipment that we have since supplied further lines to one of its subsidiary companies with further lines planned for the future,” said YPS sales director, Glyn Johnson.
