Double Express Shrink Wrapper order from YPS!

The supply of two lines including our first ever custom built Yorkshire Packaging Systems line took place at the Ashby site of Express Dairies, a leading UK milk processor.

We have been manufacturing heavy duty shrink wrappers for the dairy industry for many years and have various installations at Express sites under our belt. However, when a contract to wrap milk for McDonald’s was won by their Ashby site time was of the essence. Due to the small size and relatively light weight of each individual milk bottle, a modified YPS machine was deemed the most suitable and was the only available within the required lead time which was capable of fulfilling their needs.

And so, the equipment which we manufactured for them consisted of a stainless steel side feed sleeve sealer and shrink tunnel complete with upgraded IP65 electrical controls suitable for the harsh conditions of a dairy environment. We also fitted bespoke designed standard infeed control systems to ensure the packs entered the collation area in a controlled manner.

The end result is a very tight transit pack consisting of 20 individual bottles of milk in a 4×5 trayless format at speeds in excess of 200 bottles a minute.

This was the first YPS line we supplied to this industry and it meant that we were able to provides dairies with a wider choice between our own manufactured wrappers and YPS systems with our own bespoke handling systems.”

Following the success of this line, three months later a full YPS manufactured heavy duty shrink wrapper was installed for wrapping larger pints, litre and two litre in collations of 2×5 and 2×3. Our SS120 is capable of wrapping at speeds in excess of 150 containers of milk per minute.
