Not only are we celebrating almost 40 years of trading but we are also celebrating the installation of two of our shrink wrapping lines to the Wakefield based site of the Charlesworth Group, who are a market leader in print and publishing services, with overseas offices in both China and the USA.
Both of the lines which we supplied have replaced existing old, unreliable lines in a recent drive to improve inefficiencies as part of a major expansion drive, and the packaging machinery consisted of a TSLA 50×40 semi-automatic combination unit L sealer and shrink tunnel as well as a modified SVA 60×35 fully automatic side feed sleeve sealer and shrink tunnel.
The sleeve wrapper has a specially modified infeed arrangement in order to comfortably and reliably handle all of their loose collated products at speeds of up to 20 packs per minute.
Because The Charlesworth Group are shrink wrapping various stacks of printed material including books, journals, and brochures, with a standard system there would have been a very high chance that the pusher plate used to push the product into the shrink film would not always manage to catch the bottom book and push it onto the shrink wrapper successfully. Therefore to ensue that this was always the case the infeed arrangement included a set of rollers for allowing the pusher plate to push the product in between these rollers thus ensuring 100% reliability with each product type.
We know that it is important to get the infeed arrangement right for this type of pack and so having supplied this specification of shrink wrapper to various printers over the years it was relatively straight forward from our perspective and the best solution was able to be supplied quickly.
Kevin Jenkinson, Chief Engineer commented ‘we have seen an immediate improvement in reliability and efficiencies from the day both shrink wrappers were installed and have been impressed with Yorkshire Packaging’s attention to detail to ensure everything worked as it should from day one’.
